Job Description:
The Senior Major & Planned Gifts Officer will be a critical part of the anticipate capital
campaign and will lead the fundraising plan for major gifts beginning at the $10,000 level in
support of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Network (SRHN) development goals. S/he will
work closely with the Vice President of Development and other staff, fund raisers, physicians,
administrative leaders and volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts
(six and seven figure), primarily through face-to-face meetings with prospects and donors. 

S/he will maintain a thorough understanding of planned giving and will not only initiate
discussions of planned giving opportunities with donors, but will also serve as a resource to
other staff on planned giving. 

S/he is responsible for reaching a specific annual financial goal in the $500,000+ range in
support of the anticipate capital campaign as well as other hospital priorities. 

Requirements - External: 
1. Works closely with Hospital leadership, fundraiser, physicians, administrative leaders and
volunteers to identify existing efforts to support SRHN:

' Establishes partnerships between the SRHN Development Office and various staff in relevant
departments throughout SRHN.

' Works with relevant physicians within the institution to identify needs and priorities,
meeting with physicians to review patient/prospects lists.

' Researches relevant background information on prospects, donors, and volunteers.

' Identifies potential grateful patients, friends, corporations and foundations, and other
supporters capable of making significant (six and seven figure) gifts in support of the
institutions goals.

2. Manages cultivation process:

'Makes initial contact and appointments and meets identified potential donors providing
prospects with relevant information about the SRHN programs, focusing on face to face

' Maintains and cultivates portfolio of current and prospective major donors

' Seeks physician and other staff assistance, guidance and approval as necessary.

'Organizes and plans meetings, luncheons and facility tours as necessary.

3.Manages solicitation process:

' Meets with key physicians, staff and other major gift officers in the system to strategize
the development of resources to meet the institutional goals.

' Identifies key participants and solicitors
' Plans the ask
' Conducts personalized and in-person major gifts solicitations
' Introduces planned giving options as appropriate 

4.Manages stewardship process:

-Supplies donors and prospects with relevant and current information
-Information on research, clinical and teaching activities
-Planned Giving
-Establishing funds/endowments
-Fund agreements 
ěPledges/pledge reminders

'Writes acknowledgements
'Follows up on event activities, as appropriate
'Provides updates to donors and prospects
'Maintains donor files, records, tracking and communications
'Produces reports as required by development department, finance, and PHS Development.

5.Performs other duties as required:

'Develop and implement comprehensive planned giving program for SRHN
'Participates in SRHN Development planning
'Participates in SRHN Development committees as assigned

' A BA/BS with a minimum of five years of progressive fundraising experience.
' Proven track record of successful major and planned gift fundraising, preferably with six to
seven figure gifts
' Experience in health care or academic medical center fundraising.
