POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Specialist under the supervision of the Director of
Professional Development and the Vice President of Operations/CNO performs services in a
designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the
department and hospital. Works cooperatively intradepartmentally and other interdepartment
services to create a system of quality health care.
POSITION RESPONSIBLITIES: Maintain current knowledge in area(s) of clinical specialty.
Educates and consults on themes related to patient care. Nursing Clinical Practice and staff
development in clinical specialty. Supports the mission of the nursing education department
and nursing leadership. STANDARD IV Hospital/Department Policies & Procedures Adheres to
established hospital and department guidelines & protocols. Support hospital mission, vision
and values. A. Follows established procedures in performing job functions.
B. Accepts & supports changes in the organization. C. Wears unobstructed name badge at all
times while on duty.
D. Adheres to hospital / departmental dress code. E. Is competent & responsible in prevention
of contamination & transfer of infection. A. Reviews written policies & procedures to clarify
uncertainty and issues. F. Adheres to hospitals time and attendance procedures. G.
Demonstrates an appreciation of cost factors in the routine performance of duties; maximizes
cost efficiency. H. Reports variances in accordance with hospital policy I. Performs other
duties as assigned.
