Job Description:

The successful benefits consultant works independently and in tandem with other team members
to service current client health & welfare benefit plans, develop proposals for prospects, and
manage the plan implementation and employee communications process for new clients. 


·Analyze plan designs and contracts 
·Evaluate / develop pricing strategies 
·Conduct “Request For Proposal” process 
·Perform competitive benchmark analyses 
·Negotiate carrier renewals 
·Meet with clients to advise on service and other issues 
·Conduct or coordinate employee enrollment / education meetings 
·Assist clients with claim and carrier issue resolution 
·Assist with 5500 forms 
·Continually improve and refine internal processes 
·Lead H&W benefit projects 
·Motivate, mentor and guide team members 
·Perform other related duties as assigned


·Minimum of 6 years health benefit experience (brokerage or carrier) 
·Life and Health insurance license 
·College Degree or equivalent 
·Technical expertise in benefits, state and federal requirements 
·Technical proficiency in MS Windows XP & Office 
·Strong analytical, organization and time management skills 
·Attentive to detail and quality 
·Excellent communication skills orally and in writing; phone and interpersonal skills 
·Professional in demeanor and appearance 
·Holds high standards for self and company image 
·Independent in action and a self-starter 
·Anticipates client needs and executes client service exceptionally and expeditiously 
·Able to travel locally to client sites and periodically attend industry meetings/conferences


·Health underwriting experience 
·CEBS designation
