Position Statement:

The production development position is 20% - 25% Database Developer responsibility and 75% -
80% application development role. If you are passionate about technology, have the technical

Job Responsibilities Database Developer (20% - 25%):


Direct the strategic analysis and design of existing systems and interfaces that are data
driven, ensuring they remain current, efficient, technically advanced and cost effective.

Participate in determining the technologies to be used to solve database, state management,
and transactional functionality used by the Web Team and QA. This includes involvement in all
aspects of web development process – from architecture to development and implementation.

Ensure and manage database security, maintenance, performance, recoverability, and
reliability.

Liaise effectively with IT groups within internal company systems development and issues,
where applicable.

Ensure appropriate research, planning, development, testing and documentation are carried out
among all Web development teams with adherence to CWC project development processes (SDLC),
standards and methodologies.

Create, manage, and publish database development standards.

Develop a formal process to address change requirements and requests pertaining to databases,
schema, database logic, and state processing/handling systems as well as transactional systems
used by the Web Team. This includes the implementation of change control procedures, the QA of
database changes, management of source control, and ensures that final changes are implemented
correctly and safely into production and back into dev/staging environments.

Implement and maintain T-SQL source control in conjunction with QA.

Develop detailed documentation around all production, development and test processes
pertaining to database, state, and transactional requirements used by the Web Team and QA.

Mentor Web Team Developers and QA personnel with the goal of increased DB knowledge and
understanding.


Job Responsibilities Sr. Application Developer (70% -80%):


Design, develop, deploy and maintain complex database schemas and automated jobs in support of
Coldwater Creek’s e-Commerce site.

Troubleshoot, code and test components of our high volume ecommerce web site

Responsible for assessing the best development path to meet business requirements and follow
best development practices for .NET programming. 

Ability to work in a high paced production environment. Debug/troubleshoot and fix production
problems in a fast paced environment. 

Ability and willingness to create project documentation at various levels and perform code and
design reviews.

Analyze applications and make necessary changes to optimize performance.

Develop software, both by extending existing systems and developing new system components from
scratch.

Integrate new architectures and technologies into our existing ecommerce site, enhancing the
functionality and capability of our existing applications.

The ability to resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently through effective
troubleshooting skills as well as the ability to marshal the resources of other technical
resources as needed. 

Develop solutions to meet business requirements, includes gathering business requirements and
seeing project through testing and implementation.

Develop custom automated test tools in support of our QA processes.

Contributes to impact analysis discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.

Responsible for the design and implementation of continuous database, transactional, and
state-management enhancements.

Provide mentorship and guidance to other members of the team.

Participate with architectural decisions on any design with a database component.


Job Requirements: 


Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) and software development background required.

2 – 3 years of Applications Development Skills: .NET Framework, C#, WebServices (SOAP/XML),
Remoting, ASP.NET, COM+ (especially transactions), Windows Services, Client/Server, ASP,
Scripting and Web Services.

2-4 years experience in data base administration to include backup/recovery, database/server
maintenance, SQL Server Security, performance tuning, file system management, SQL Server
memory management, Server Auditing and Profiling.

2-3 years of experience developing SQL database applications, 3-5+ years preferred.

2–3 years demonstrated experience in the use of XML and XSL.

2-3 years of experience developing SQL database applications, 3-5+ years preferred.

Experienced technical architect/developer in custom web application design, architecture and
development.

A solid working knowledge of .NET, SQL Server, and configuration management development
practices for working with a team of developers and SQA engineers.

Ecommerce industry knowledge is a big plus.

Solid background in business process evaluation and problem solving; must be able to meet
directly with end users and translate their requirements into .NET/SQL.

Ability to manage priorities and handle simultaneous demands; willingness to work in a fast
paced and demanding environment – ensuring that problems get solved; must be able to drive
projects to completion.

The ability to design and code database-driven .NET Applications that perform efficiently, are
operationally stable, and meet the business requirements.

Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and be able to communicate
effectively with both internal and external customers. 

Must be able to work with other team members in meeting project goals.

Retail industry knowledge and/or experience a plus.
