Job Description:
Training and Development Consultant

~20 hours / week

September 2005  March 2006

 

Harvard Business School Publishing seeks an experienced Training and Development Consultant to
work with our Training and Development staff on several initiatives.  This person will:

 

Partner with our training staff to assess professional and management development needs and
establish appropriate activities to meet those needs;
 

Design curriculum and deliver learning programs to support skill building, professional
development, and management development;
 

Align programs with operational needs of the organization and its business units; Coordinate
with other learning resources;
 

Suggest and execute ways of analyzing feedback from training/learning participants;
 

Consult with managers to increase manager and employee effectiveness;
 

Coach managers in use of 360-degree feedback tool and creation of development plans;
 

Facilitate unit initiatives in change, team building, brainstorming, and planning;
 

Coach managers in general performance management skills, especially individual development
planning;
 

Partner in delivery of new employee and new manager orientation.
 

Requirements:

BA/BS required, Master's degree in training and development (or related field) preferred, plus
8+ yrs of significant experience focusing on professional and management development and
organizational assessment programs. Consultative experience working with all levels of an
organization. Proven ability to research/assess existing organizational culture and structures
and to develop new programs and approaches. Experience working within a complex organization.
Excellent coaching and platform skills essential. Successful candidate will have management
and business knowledge, an engaging interpersonal style in individual meetings/presentations,
and inspire confidence through expertise and a proactive service-delivery style.
