Givaudan, a global leader in the flavor and fragrance industry, is seeking a Research Scientist
(Biotechnology) to join its Flavor Research and Development Team.
In this challenging position, the successful applicant would be expected to conduct research
utilizing modern biochemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology to invent commercially
viable flavor ingredients, including natural aroma chemicals, flavor modulators, precursor
systems, and protein hydrolysates and/or to invent new or improve processes for commercially
Other responsibilities include: performing experiments involving microbial cultures and
fermentations, enzymolysis, and related biotechnological methods to produce new and unique
flavor ingredients and/or new and improved processes, utilizing different analytical
techniques to determine final product concentrations and purity, and preparing media for
Candidates for these positions must have a BS or MS in Microbiology, Biology, or Food Science
with a minimum of 2 years experience in a research lab preferably in the flavor industry.
Knowledge of basic microbiological concepts and biochemistry is required. In addition,
experience in aseptic manipulation of cultures and media preparation, streaking for isolation,
spread plates, and pour plates is desirable. Strong oral and written communication skills and
computer skills are essential.
