This is a special opportunity for an individual to be trained as an Electroretinography Service
Technician. As an ERG Tech, you will be part of a team in the measurement of visual function
including recording of electroretinograms that are used for diagnosis, prognosis, and
evaluation of treatments for hereditary retinal degenerations. Specifically, the ERG Tech
schedules and tests patients in a series of tests which include dark adaptation, color vision,
visual field, and electroretinograpic testing.
The position of ERG Technician is a responsible one which requires someone who has a sincere
interest in providing care to patients who have visual impairments. The technician must
demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all
A Bachelors Degree is required, preferably in biology or another scientific discipline. One or
more years of job experience in a medical setting is necessary. Experience with electronic
equipment, including computers, is preferred.
