The Business Systems Architect (ABSA) brings industry, system and process understanding to the
technology team. The Associate Business Systems Architect also supports the other Architects
and managers in enterprise wide IT project planning. The ABSA establishes a strong working
relationship with systems analysts and technical managers, gaining their trust and full
knowledge of their short and long term objectives. This position reports to the VP IST or
Business Systems Architect
While there are no direct managerial/supervisory responsibilities this person will principally
assist the BSA and Technical Managers within the information technology team. The ABSA also
will support and held define process specific blueprinting and detailed requirements for
client specific and general business needs, business architecture, workflow design and act as
a lead contact and support to business analysts within the PBR organization.
For large projects, the ABSA may be assigned full business requirements and documentation in
the design and development phases.
The ABSA is considered a subject matter expert, with the ability to troubleshoot complex
business and data issues and solve a variety problems though given domain expertise.
1. Responsible for supporting the business architecture. Formulates and defines business
system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding
of applicable business systems and industry requirements.
2. Supports the design of complex information systems by analysis of business and user needs,
documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic.
3. Instruct, direct, and check the work of business analysts and engineers. May acts as a team
leader for projects or perform reviews and analysis of their work.
4. Possesses full knowledge of all phases of systems analysis, but also considers the business
implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
5. Facilitates meetings with business partners to gather and document requirements and explore
potential solutions. Participates in work groups and work sessions with business and technical
consultants to explore business process improvement and re-engineering opportunities.
6. Facilitates the capture of user issues and translates them into requirements for the
technology group and, conversely, translates technology issues into a format understandable to
non-technical personnel. Monitors performance and integration tests of business applications to
ensure user requirements have been incorporated and client expectations have been satisfied.
7. Works with cross functional groups to coordinate information technology projects, serves as
business and process resource, supports facilitation and training services to designated

defining meaningful data entity definitions. Develops standards, templates, procedures to aid

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

'XProficiency in SQL, data modeling and ERD development, modification and understanding of
existing ERDs within the division.

'X0-2 years experience working in defining system flows, processes and features within an
enterprise or large scale projects
'XUnderstanding of OOP/OOA principles.
