Job Description:
Job Summary: The Senior Graphic Designer provides creative visual solutions for both Ivey’s
Marketing Department and Ivey’s clients. The Senior Designer coordinates the generation of
creative concepts and design work through to the final production mechanicals, following
strict brand requirements. The Senior Designer reports to the Director of Marketing and
assists in leading a design team to guide the Ivey Imaging brand and develop that brand
through internal marketing collateral and tools. Must be able to manage multiple projects,
with multiple visual and print components and have excellent relationship-building skills.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1) Customer/Sales Contact

·            Work with the Design team to plan and estimate cost and timing of jobs

·            Procure necessary project content or support files

·            Make changes and adjustments based on customer feedback

2) Layout/ Design

·            Produce concepts for customer evaluation

·            Typeset customer-supplied copy and/or write copy based on customer feedback

·            Format text and graphics to produce pleasing, readable and visual layouts

·            Accurately specify colors, fonts, point size, crops and other layout
measurements

·            Produce layouts and designs which are conceptually and visually compelling

3) Job Coordination

·            Communicate with sales and production to keep them current on jobs in progress

·            Order production services such as FPO scans and proofs as needed

·            Coordinate with production to make sure work is “producible” both technically and
on a schedule

·            Coordinate with outside suppliers/vendors for products not produced in house

 

Requirements: (physical demands, experience, training, skills or education)

Minimum of 5 years’ experience, at a senior design level, initiating and managing client
relationships--internally and externally
Minimum 4 years’ experience in production design--understands design techniques when producing
files for grand and large format printing 
Skilled in designing interactive and web tools preferred
Experience in project/program management, off-set printing and press checks
Proven experience managing complex, multi-component visual communications projects
Skilled in PC and Mac platforms
Proficient in Adobe CS Series; Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Quark XPress and interactive
programs such as Flash
Experience creating brand identity, corporate collateral development, and initiating company’s
brand elements into multiple print components
Experience working in a design team environment as well as leading other designers
Able to handle stress in a fast-paced environment
