The position is responsible for assisting the Manager, Financial Systems in making the
financial business process more efficient and streamlined. It will support the existing
systems and users, new projects/enhancements and functions as an internal consultant to the
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
∑ Communicate and analyze business processes with accounting staff, business unit
staff, and General Managers to streamline financial processes transforming the process into a
∑ Assist assigned new business/acquisitions with transitioning into the Charles River
Laboratories system process.
∑ Develop new approaches, processes or methods to solve new/old business problems. Act
as an agent of change and continuously reevaluate processes.
∑ Identify business requirements from accounting and management personnel. Evaluate
and document needs. Design an application solution in conjunction with IT staff.
∑ Lead functional group with project related activities.
∑ Maintain current financial systems and configure when necessary for new processes
∑ Modify user security settings as necessary to allow authorized employees access.
∑ Provide support and training to accounting staff and management for existing systems
and new systems and applications.
∑ Communicate effectively with staff at all levels of assigned business units in order
to understand the full function of the business and maintain confidentiality where needed.
Maintain strong user relationships.
∑ Perform all other related duties as assigned.
∑ Education: Bachelorís degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Finance or IT.
∑ Experience: Four to six years related experience in financial systems/accounting.
∑ An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a
satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
∑ Certification/Licensure: None.
∑ Other: Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Projects and Visio
∑ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
∑ Must have the ability to quickly learn new software tools and technologies.
∑ Knowledge of the system development lifecycle including; defining and analyzing
business requirements, process modeling, testing, documentation and validation.
∑ Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
∑ Understanding of Sarbanes Oxley requirements preferred
∑ Knowledge of JDE, Oracle, PeopleSoft, ADP systems preferred
∑ Experience with Toad & PL/SQL preferred.
