Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to those
listed: (Include EH&S)  Introduce new components into manufacturing. Support the pedigree
review process for components. Technology search/supplier selection (along with
design/reliability). Supports cost reduction initiatives through design modifications or
supplier process improvements. Point of contact for Supplier testing issues.  Provide data
analysis and reports on component issues and status (as required). Support MRB/RFD, FMA and CA
processes as they apply to components. Primary point of contact for supplier activities. 
Develop purchasing specifications for components. Perform or orchestrate supplier audits and
line reviews. Participate in design, specification and drawings review process. Participate in
ongoing supplier evaluations and annual supplier rating process.  Support company and facility
Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and programs; support and fulfill annual and
long-term EH&S objectives; attend appropriate EH&S training; provide information for accident
and incident investigations and assist in implementation of corrective actions. AUTHORITY 
This position has the authority to carry out the above responsibilities. INTERFACE WITH
OTHERS:  Suppliers, shop supervisors and production associates, product, process, design and
reliability engineers at all Tyco Telecom locations, Materials and Project Management. MINIMUM
engineering degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Optical or Electrical Engineering discipline
with additional knowledge of the submarine cable business essential. Understanding reliability
predictions and supply line management is desirable. A prime requirement for this job is the
ability to learn the techniques for utilizing new technology and continuous repeater system
