Job Description:
Courier Westford, a subsidiary of Courier Corporation, the nation's fifth largest book
manufacturer, currently has an immediate opening for a Estimator/Biller.

 

Estimating Job Responsibility Summary

Review customer job specifications in relation to manufacturing capability and prepare and
communicate formal written estimates to customers based on job specifications, utilizing
pricing scales and material costs. 
Use computerized estimating system to analyze quotes and compare against competitor quotes;
provide pricing level options for sales to review.  
Communicate directly with salespeople and customers regarding quoting activity and questions.
Contact outside manufacturing sources for subcontracted work pricing and schedules. 
 

Billing Job Responsibility Summary

Calculate job production billing charges using estimates, pricing scales, packing lists and
bills of lading, in PRIMUS.  Review completed job folders for additional billing opportunities
based on services or materials used in the manufacturing process not originally contained in
the quote or price scales.
Communicate directly with salespeople and customers regarding billing questions.
Assist finance department with month end accruals and special projects.
 

Education/Experience/Skills Required

Strong math skills that include the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of
measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Must understand how to work with
ratios, markup vs. margin and discounts to get margins.

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Written and verbal contact with customers
is necessary and strong grammar, spelling and communication skills are necessary.

 

Strong computer skills including accurate and quick data entry. 

 

Knowledge of book manufacturing to be able to: calculate web and sheet sizes and cutoffs, bind
styles, knowledge of paper types, etc.

 

Applicants must have a “can-do” attitude, be detail oriented, able to work at a fast pace,
remain professional under pressure, cooperative, willing to put in as much time as necessary
to get the job done and be a problem-solver.

 

Education Requirements:  High School Diploma or GED, college degree preferred
