The Clinical Development Senior Data Analyst, working in the Clinical Development department,
is responsible for managing and manipulating health care data, including medical and pharmacy
claims, membership files, and other data from a wide variety of clients and systems. The
Clinical Development Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for all data analysis and
research activities in the department including development, implementation and dissemination
of new and existing clinical programs. The Senior Analyst will conduct impact analyses,
perform testing and assist in the design of clinical programs while serving as an analytic
resource for clinical development activities. We are looking for solid analytical skills
combined with business acumen and creativity. This is an open position in our Portland, Maine
Perform accurate and complete data extraction from HDAS claims data warehouse, including
medical, pharmacy and laboratory data sets, to meet project requirements.
Display an understanding of data elements in warehouse and perform QC on datasets to ensure
completeness and accuracy of results.
Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of disease management and pharmacy
management methodologies across diseases. Familiarity with NCQA is helpful but not a
Develop analyses that evaluate new program features including testing and implementation of
new clinical programs.
Provide information and support for ad hoc analytic projects for internal customers
Design and program re-usable SAS code to conduct data analysis and testing.
Actively support and teach other analysts to improve analytic and SAS skills of team members.
Effectively communicate and present research approach and results to internal and external
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate programming skill, focus and initiative
in learning and applying parts of the SAS system. The following qualifications are desired:
3-5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in healthcare/outcomes studies using
complex health claims data.
Ability to get and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
Ability to solve complex problems
Ability to work in a team environment and be flexible in taking on various projects
Proven ability to teach and provide technical support to other analysts in Clinical
Ability to deal responsibly with confidential information
Proficiency in SAS and other technical applications such as SQL, ACCESS, and web-based
database tools; Skilled in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Bachelorís degree in technical or analytic fields (computer science, statistics, public
health, etc.), Masterís degree preferred.
