JOB DESCRIPTION:

The AVP of Reporting and Accounting will lead a team of reporting, billing, and accounting
analysts to provide monthly and daily billing and income reports to world-leading securities
lending clients. Primarily, as a first stage of responsibilities, the manager will maintain
various internal fee and income accounts and be responsible for payables, receivables, and
reconciliations for a variety of business segments and channels. The individual will be the
primary internal liaison between client relations, operations, and systems groups in order to
design, implement, and maintain reporting program functions in a rapidly growing environment,
while insuring timeliness and accuracy of all money movements and issued reports. As a
secondary stage, the candidate will supervise other internal accounting processes, including
fund accounting practices of an investment management team. The candidate must have extensive
accounting, billing, and reporting experience, proven project management skills, and the
ability to focus on key processes in an ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate will be

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

          Manage a team of three to five reporting and accounting analysts.

          Potential secondary stage of supervising fund accounting activities of investment
team. 

          Insure the timely and accurate reconciliations of various accounts.

Daily reconciliations among various internal departments and accounts. 
Monthly reconciliations of payables/receivables and timely transfer of funds.
          Develop, manage, and produce all client earnings reports.

Consolidate multiple income and billing channels for client payments and reports. 
Consolidate investment income from asset managers for payment and reporting.
Standardize reporting processes among a variety of client types.
Implement trend reporting across a variety of user-defined criteria.
Establish, monitor, and report on performance metrics across reporting team. 
          Develop and implement additional controls for billing and reporting processes,
including assessment of external and internal services to enhance and support client
accounting.

          Manage the implementation of new programs, acting as liaison among internal
departments, insuring that all client and process needs are met.

This includes, but is not limited to, developing new earnings reports, organizing and
maintaining new relationship contacts, daily report generation for multiple constituents, and
verifying the accuracy of data in various databases.
          Continual development and expansion of tools to enhance client reporting
capabilities.

          Responsible for accurate and timely delivery of client earnings reports as well as
internal data required by various constituents throughout the monthly billing/reporting
cycle.

          Develop, implement, and manage a long-term reporting plan as part of an initiative
to prepare for high growth and expanded services. 

          Various related projects as initiated by the individual or Vice President of
Financial Planning & Analysis, to whom the candidate will report.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years experience specifically in client reporting, billing,
and accounting. Having knowledge of reporting technologies, including database familiarity and
on-line reporting mechanisms is preferred. Highly critical qualities include diligence,
impeccable attention to detail, creative problem solving, project and personnel managing, and
a constant desire to find improvements or increase efficiency. Good communication, task
prioritization, and time management skills are essential.  Computer skills: Expertise in Excel
and a working level of knowledge in database programming or other accounting and reporting
programs. Experience with Cognos Impromptu and Report Net products a plus. A thorough
understanding of financial markets, particularly in securities lending, is preferred but not
required. 

 

EDUCATION:

CPA and BA/BS in Accounting or related business degree with significant accounting experience.
MBAs are strongly considered, provided a CPA or accounting background.
