Job Description:

Software Engineer.

 

This position is responsible for the engineering implementation of electronic security
detention projects.  The incumbent will be responsible for all necessary hardware and software
engineering; including but not limited to: understanding project specifications, specifying
system components, producing system drawings, producing system schedules and submittal
documentation.  The incumbent will also be very involved with various coordination aspects of
the project such as: working with other team members, interfacing with the customer,
communicating with the various contractors, subcontractors, and vendors involved in the
project and working with the technicians during assembly.  Additionally, this person will
participate in the major stages of implementing the engineered solution, assisting with
in-house system testing, participating in the on-site start up, conducting system validation
and providing customer training.  The incumbent will also work closely with the Project
Manager, providing schedule input, project technical direction and overseeing and guiding
Systems Engineers.  Additional duties include suggestions for technical ideas and quality
improvements.

 

Responsibilities:

1.        Perform all engineering tasks associated with the successful creation/completion of
a completely integrated electronic security detention system. – All: system design, system
software, system testing and system implementation. 

2.        Adhere to project budgets and schedules.

3.        Provide direction to contractors as needed.

4.        Recognize change order opportunities..

5.        Provide customers with quality, timely, and cost effective engineering solutions.

6.        Support Sales Engineers with technical expertise when requested.

7.        Investigate new products and solutions that can reduce costs, improve quality and
increase efficiency.

8.        Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

u        Skills or experience with personal computers, including electronic E-mail, personal
scheduling, word processing and electronic spreadsheet skills.

u        Programming, configuring, and designing PLC systems

u        PC based Human Machine Interface software packages

¨       Strong knowledge of networks and networking

¨       Strong knowledge of Windows 2000 and NT

¨       Experience with AutoCAD

¨       Strong knowledge of electrical principles and the application of such

¨       Solid electrical troubleshooting ability

¨       Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Office Suites

¨       Knowledge of PC configuration and peripherals

¨       Ability to understand how to wire panels and equipment

¨       Knowledge of field installation and applications

¨       Ability to be creative and resourceful in obtaining solutions to uncommon
applications

¨       A valid state driver’s license, without restrictions, is required for this position

¨       Ability to convey instructions verbally to lay end users and knowledgeable
technicians

¨       Ability to effectively work independently or in a team atmosphere

¨       Excellent time Management skills

¨       Ability to manage multiple priorities is required

¨       A strong customer service orientation is required

¨       Project management skills

¨       MCP desirable

¨       Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science
Technology, Computer Integrated Manufacturing Technology or related field

¨       Previous experience with and good working knowledge of; Programmable Logic
Controllers, Human Machine Interface Software and the architecture of large electrical control
systems.

¨       Systems integration experience

¨       In-depth knowledge of Windows 2000 operating system

¨       Must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

¨       Must possess a valid state Driver’s License.

¨       Must be able to travel to out of town locations
