Job Description:
The Manager of Engineering will guide architectural and "big picture" programs for new or
enhanced infrastructure systems. Will work with internal teams and project managers to define
system/functional requirements, provide product recommendations, recommend emerging
technologies, and create system specifications to meet functional requirements. 

This position includes disciplines in several areas of engineering including electrical,
hardware, networking, telephony, software, configuration management, release management,
change management, reliability management. Directs and monitors engineering tasks associated
with implementation or release, such as of change, builds, and beta testing. This position
requires leading edge skills in the latest areas of technology.


30% Architect hardware/software solutions that will work together in our environment. Ensures
completed solution provide all functionality described by Business Analyst and meet
performance guidelines.

>Provides high-level analysis and design reviews to other members and groups within the
department to avoid duplication of efforts in solving the same application problem within
different products

>Works with third party vendors to identify emerging technologies and/or integrate their
software/hardware into Digitas' environment

>Evaluates new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of
incorporating their capabilities.

40% Manages the engineering process, works with various teams and groups within the company to
ensure that required features and technologies are implemented included / supported. Manages
infrastructure projects:

>Ensures projects are completed on time and according to corporate quality standards.

>Facilitates communication upward and across project team including project status,
justifications for variances and technical information (architecture, design and
implementation objectives).

>Serves as focal point for other departments on project status or other project information.

>Organizes project through development of a Project Plan.

>Develops and oversees periodic performance tests, and prepares reports for upper-level
management and executives.

30% Manages the personnel activities of information security staff (i.e., hires, fires,
trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, provides coachable moments as necessary).


>Excellent knowledge of information systems such as networking, telephony, web architecture,
data security, and data management practices

>Strong inter-personal and communication skills; capable of writing procedural documentation
or technical white papers, making presentations to management or professional peers, and
working closely with upper management.

>Must employ good project management skills and practices to manage project, including
creating documented project plans, and conducting project status reviews. Good organizational
and time management skills mandatory. Have an ability to solve problems quickly and

>Multi NOS experience working with Windows 2000 and 2003, and Unix (AIX) and Solaris

>Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards

>Fundamental knowledge in networking/distributed computing environment concepts Strong
knowledge of TCP/IP 

>Strong understanding of routing concepts 

>Proficient in Active Directory schemas, groups, policies, etc. 

>Ability to program in an administrative language (Perl, a shell, Visual C++)
