Job Description:
Samsung Ventures America (SVA) is the US office for Samsung's US investment activities.  The
office has primary responsibility for sourcing, qualifying, and closing US deals.  The US
office is also responsible for supporting US-based portfolio companies subsequent to
investment.  At present, we have $300 million in under management, and it is expected that
approximately $70M-$100M will be actively invested over the next two to three years on behalf
of Samsung companies.  Samsung Electronics (a global leader in semiconductor,
telecommunication, digital media and digital convergence technologies) is the major LP of
SVA's investment funds, and SVA's investment strategy closely aligns with Samsung Electronics'
major technology initiatives.

 

Investment Principal - Display

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

- Ability to formulate clear investment theses aligned with needs of Samsung
companies-Display/Semiconductor Division and broader industry trends - focus is to quickly and
succinctly identify and communicate key deal attributes, risks based on thoughtful analysis

-  Ability to effectively represent Samsung, and build and/or extend relationships in venture
community and industry

-  Initially be responsible for supporting all aspects of the investment process (from deal
analysis to due diligence to investment decision); should have trajectory to independently
source, qualify and execute investments

-  Act as integral part of small investment team with independent area of expertise;
sufficient technical and semiconductor industry knowledge to quickly evaluate broad spectrum
of investment opportunities

-  Self-starter who can initiate and manage variety of investment related tasks with limited
supervision

 

Qualifications will include:

 

-  Technical degree, advance degrees in science or engineering preferred

-   Fluent level of Korean considered basic requirement, due to heavy interaction with HQ in
Korea

-  Direct Semiconductor, Material, Display related experience, including functional experience
beyond engineering (e.g. sales, sales engineering and/or marketing exposure) preferred

-  Direct transaction or transaction support experience (M&A, direct investment, etc.)
considered a strong plus
