POSITION TITLE RF Project Manager
REPORTS TO Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Under limited supervision, responsible for managing multiple projects and cross-functional
teams focused on the delivery of products from concept to new product introduction (NPI).
Creates project plans and directs project teams using the product development process.
Monitors projects from initiation through transfer to NPI. Supports product NPI as required.
Organizes cross-functional activities ensuring completion of projects on schedule and within
budget constraints. Manages all aspects of projects with direct accountability for project
execution. Leads project teams to accomplish specific objectives in a given time frame and
with limited resources.

Major Action and Support Actions

1. Manages product development projects using standard project management practices from
concept, design, prototype, qualification, and to NPI release. Monitors project progress, and
works to resolve issues that arise. Submits reports and status updates as required. 

2. Establishes project objectives, creates project schedules, and assigns tasks to the project
team. Directs and coordinates the activities of project team personnel (e.g. engineering,
manufacturing/NPI, purchasing, technical marketing, and quality) to ensure projects remain on
schedule and within budget. Reviews/analyzes project status and modifies schedules and/or
plans as required. 
3. Responsible for ensuring the development process is followed and that all customer
requirements are met. Serves as the primary customer interface and the internal central point
of contact from project initiation through product release to NPI. Responsible for formal and
informal communications within the company and with customers. 

4. Determines pre-release product quantities to be built and ensures that all materials are
procured. Participates in preliminary cost estimation. Identifies organizational and resource
issues that adversely impact project plans and develops contingency plans to minimize project
risk 10%

Decisions to expedite material. Decisions related to risk mitigation where project schedule is
concerned.

Decisions/Problems referred to supervisor

Issues in the prioritization of customer requirements. Pricing issues. Problems that expose
the department to high cost and/or inventory. Quality problems that may impact product life.
Project and/or process issues that impact product development and/or introduction. 

WORK RELATIONSHIPS

Types of Contact
Internal/External Customers External: Primary interface with the customer during the product
development process.

Manufacturing/NPI Team Internal: To ensure product and process documentation is completed. To
support the product transfer to NPI.

Quality Internal: To understand the impact and failure mode of customer returns. To ensure
that reliability targets are achieved. To ensure Quality Test Plans (QTP) are created.

Program Manager Internal: To report status, provide updates on issues, and to address problems
outside of the scope of the project manager.

Engineering Material Planner/Coordinator Internal: To ensure the pre-release BOM is created
and that all material is procured for pre-release/Engineering builds

Engineering Internal: Once the product is defined, the project manager oversees the design,
qualification and release to new product introduction.

FINANCIAL DIMENSIONS
Employee is accountable for the quality and quantity of his/her own work. Individual financial
dimensions are not readily measurable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelorís degree in engineering, operations or business.∑ 
Minimum of three to five years of direct experience in product/program/project management.
Experience in the RF/Telecommunications industry is a plus.
PMI, PMP certifications are desirable.
Demonstrated ability to organize and lead cross-functional teams.
Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
Advanced PC skills using Microsoft Office products and MS project.

PC and other office equipment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
to 10%
