Job Description:
Job Purpose:

Supports the Maintenance Branch by performing a variety of Instrument and Control trade
functions. These duties include corrective and preventive maintenance on facility systems,
equipment and components, such as: Programmable logic controllers, motor control centers,
motors, HVAC units, control and power circuits, air/electrical operated valves, and other
related remote controlled equipment. Involved in the installation and removal of piping,
circuits and associated instrumentation and equipment supporting plant modifications.   

 

Duties:

  *Performs Journeyman level duties in the installation, repair and maintenance to facility
Instrumentation and controls  equipment, systems and components.   
 
*Performs corrective and preventive I&C maintenance tasks. Interprets designs, drawings and
O&M manuals in locating and diagnosing trouble in control equipment, components and systems.
Replaces worn, damaged or failed equipment and components in support of facility operations.
 
*Performs emergency repairs to systems, equipment and components. Records the as-found
condition as well as the repaired condition.
 
*Assists Engineering with modifications/revisions to plant systems, equipment and/or
components.
 
*Demonstrates and conducts any required inspections/post-maintenance testing  of systems,
equipment and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensures systems, equipment
and components are  returned to operational conditions.
 
 
 
*Specifies maintenance equipment needs to complete I&C tasks.
 
*Calibrates and maintains instruments and control systems, replaces worn, damaged or failed
equipment and components in support of facility operations.  
 
*Works in environments with elevated temperatures.       
 
*Works in close proximity to chemical agents and decontamination solutions. Must be able to
acknowledge and respond to flashing lights and sirens and be able to don a protective mask and
evacuate up to two (2) miles in an expeditious manner.
 

 
*Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Team and/or Hazmat Team.
 
*Works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays, as required to support 24 hour processing of
the facility.
 

 
*Performs Preventive Maintenance tasks, following predetermined checklists in the performance
of preventive maintenance.
 
*Understands and utilizes a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment
in the performance of duties.
 
*Assists Engineering with modifications/revisions to plant systems, equipment and components.

 
*Utilizes blueprints, drawings and specifications in locating and diagnosing trouble in
electrical/electronics/instrumentation equipment, control circuits and power systems.
 
 
 
 
 
Skills/Qualifications:

*High School diploma or equivalent. Formal Electrical Electronics/Instrumentation training
such as vocational/technical school, trade school, military or apprenticeship desired. 

 *Must be able to read and interpret blueprint drawings, layouts and specifications.

*A minimum of four (4) years of Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation work experience in an
industrial setting, with a preference in a toxic or hazardous environment desired.  Prefer a
portion of this experience to be with chemical demil plant maintenance.
