We are currently seeking a Plant Buyer to manage the day to day purchasing activities to
ensure that all purchases are made at the lowest cost and highest quality consistent with the
needs of the plants.  This person will ensure all purchases are made in accordance with
company policies and procedures and monitor delivery of materials and services to meet the
production needs of the plants.  Responsible for purchases and preparing and executing, in
conjunction with the legal Department, supply agreements which will fully protect the Company
against missed deliveries, shortages and outages, poor material quality and other performance
issues that could affect production. The Plant Buyer will establish blanket purchase orders
where appropriate, work closely with plant personnel to locate and develop new sources of
supply and offer lower cost alternatives, monitor market conditions to keep abreast of
potential changes that could affect costs and/or schedules and maintain appropriate
documentation and files for all purchases made. The selected individual will participate in
plant team meetings to gain and understanding of the needs of the plant, develop short and
long term purchasing goals and objectives and provide weekly feedback to Corporate Purchasing
and Plant Management. Responsibilities also include working closely with Corporate Purchasing
in the implementation and administration of major raw materials purchases.  Will also work
closely with Plant Scheduler to understand and implement MRP requirements relative to material
purchases.

 


The ideal candidate will have two to four years of experience, with a Bachelors Degree.  The
candidate will be systems driven with a strong emphasis on customer service, methods and cost,
and be an aggressive, strong negotiator that works well in a multifunctional team environment.
The selected individual will be a strategic out of the box thinker, willing to recommend
change and offer lower cost alternatives as well as have the ability to work with plant
personnel to attain close working relationships in engineering, production and in other areas
throughout the plant. The candidate must have experience in make/ buy decisions as well as be
a leader capable of implementing strategies with minimal supervision.
