Requires: BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline with 5+ years of
experience, MA/MS degree with 3+ years of work experience, or a Ph.D. with 1+ years work
experience; or equivalent related technical work experience. Solid understanding of safe
handling processes and procedures for spacecraft, satellite, high reliability military, or
instrument systems. Previous experience with computer aided design (CAD) and mechanical
analysis tool (FEA). Ability to solve mechanical design problems, perform piece part design,
and coordinate fabrication, assembly, and qualification of hardware. Capable of working in a
team environment. Good verbal and communication skills and organizational skills and ability
to meet deadlines.
Desire: Previous leadership experience with the development of JPL I&T processes for
spacecraft, satellite, high reliability military, or instrument systems. Working knowledge of
mid-level CAD tools (i.e. Solidworks, Unigraphics) and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning
and Tolerancing. Previous experience in planning, cost control, and scheduling.
Opto-mechanical experience is a plus.
Will: Will work in a project setting with other mechanical engineers to design, develop, and
qualify mechanical ground support equipment. Duties will include assessing project needs and
develop mechanical integration plans, and design and develop mechanical ground support
equipment. Will Interface with engineers, designers, analysts, fabrication shop, mechanical
technicians, and project staff.
