This position reports directly to the Director of Programs Management is responsible for cost,
quality and schedule of assigned programs. In addition to program management duties, this
position requires regular direct interaction with key customers. With limited supervision or
direction, the program manager will plan and execute multiple development engineering design
and manufacturing programs for defense, defense related and aerospace products. Programs are
separately funded and usually have different customers and varied requirements. Programs
include elements of design, analysis, materials and process development, test and evaluation
of structures and components.
Will plan, develop, implement, and coordinate all program activities for assigned programs.
Develop and manage program budgets for each program and perform regular cost and productivity
Will utilize Earned Value Measurement techniques to create baselines, determine earned value
from project status, calculate earned value indices, and estimate final cost and completion
date for assigned programs.
Develop work breakdown structure from which you will build a detailed program schedules that
will include critical milestones, production, testing and initial production activities.
Schedules will be prepared on Microsoft Project so proficiency with MS Project is required.
Perform risk management and assessment. Create program risk charts in accordance with the
PMBOK as well as risk mitigation plans for the identified program risks.
Build and direct an interdepartmental team of individuals and suppliers to meet customer
quality, performance and schedule requirements within finite budget constraints.
Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Finance, to manage programs
effectively to assure overall business sales and profit goals are met.
Responsible for scheduling and conducting program kick-off meetings. Will provide written
expectations for communication and reporting from all team members for compilation and
inclusion in weekly and monthly Program Status reports.
Assure planning is efficiently released to shop through regular interaction with Cell
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; effect changes required for improvement.
Conduct monthly program reviews for senior staff.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, or Finance, and a Professional in Project Management (PMP)
Certification. A minimum of five years of progressive Programs Management experience in an
aerospace/DOD contractor environment; including supervision of subordinate Program Managers.
Requires practical experience with project management practices including work breakdown
structure, scheduling, resource loading, risk management and assessment, cost account
management, cost estimation and planning (Integrated Master Plan and Integrated Master
Schedule). Proficiency with Earned Value Measurement techniques. Computer literacy in MS
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project is also required. Requires experience in change
management and consensus building. Must have ability to collaborate across multiple
departments to form strong relationships. Must be willing and able to travel
