Search Engine Marketing Manager

Fast-growing interactive agency is looking for a Search Engine Marketing Manager, to oversee
and implement SEM campaigns for clients across multiple industries.


The SEM Manager supports the agency’s clients in developing and implementing campaigns that
drive traffic and online conversions. The position requires a background, and a keen interest,
in online marketing and media.


The SEM Manager is responsible for all tasks involved in planning a campaign, tactical
execution, and reporting the results and recommendations. Experience in both PPC and Natural
Search is optimal.


Candidates should understand the role of SEM within a full-service interactive agency, and
have a solid understanding of the SEM landscape. Comfort in working within a fast-paced
service business is a must.


The successful candidate for this position will be a creative thinker with a love for number
crunching and a passion for making our clients look good. The candidate will also be able to
efficiently organize and present large volumes of information, across multiple vendors and
platforms, and translate this data into valuable marketing insight.




·        2- 5 years of experience with PPC, natural search engine listings, and search

·        Demonstrated results increasing site rankings and search traffic

·        Skill managing Fortune 1000 level clients

·        Adherence to the highest ethical standards

·        Excellent communication and presentation skills

·        Experience with SEO keyword research

·        Strong knowledge of search engine algorithms and ranking strategies

·        Proficient with SEO reporting/ analytical tools, Word, Excel, and HTML

·        Experience with major search engines and PPC vendors

·        Solid understanding of website functionality, front-end web content and user
interface and a well developed sense of efficient and effective web user experience



·        Create and set-up new paid search campaigns for clients and partners

·        Work with the team to expand the campaign and increase its effectiveness

·        Assess the performance of campaigns and strategies through timely qualitative and
quantitative analysis

·        Upload ads as needed to various PPC search engines

·        Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

·        Coordinate the implementation of conversion tracking codes on clients’ websites


Campaign Management and Optimization

·        Continually monitor, test, revise, and update placements as necessary

·        Create relevant, easily digestible client reports that provide insight into consumer
behavior and recommendations for improvement

·        Ensure accurate, reliable, timely and proactive delivery of information

·        Create and review daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports for multiple online sites
and promotions


Keyword Research

·        Cataloging and indexing target keyword phrases

·        Keyword research using WordTracker, Overture, Google and internal tools

·        Create, categorize and refine keyword lists to drive qualified visitors to client and
partner sites

·        Assessment of competitive landscape for desired client keywords


Client and Account Team Interaction

·        Interface with the media planning and development teams to provide the data necessary
to develop effective online marketing campaigns

·        Managing client and account team expectations

·        Keeping clients informed on industry changes and best practices

·        Explaining reports, and, when appropriate, up-selling the client to allocate
increased budgets.
