Innovative Merchant Solutions (IMS), a division of Intuit, Inc., is a fast-paced, results-
oriented business providing electronic payment products and services to over a hundred thousand
small businesses. IMS differentiators include a broad array of payment services, great customer
service, and engaged employees. 

Intuit’s Innovative Merchant Solutions business unit is seeking a Senior UI Designer to lead
the development of user interfaces and interaction designs for electronic payment systems and
related PC and web client tools. The ideal candidate will help us map user flows, create UI
designs and prototypes, and partner with human factors researchers and engineering to implement
a highly efficient user interface. You will join the IMS team in our offices just a few miles
from Malibu Beach and the Pacific Ocean in beautiful Calabasas, California. 

Responsibilities 

- Drive and manage the interaction design process for web and desktop software applications,
from concept development through implementation and release, using a user-centered design
process. 

- Deliver user-flows and screen-flows, lo and hi-fidelity prototypes, mockups, and design
specifications. 

- Deliver designs that follow user interface and human factors design principles, meet business
goals, and achieve ease of use goals. 

- Work with user researchers to help plan for research (e.g. usability testing), participate in
research activities, and use research data to ensure that the design meets goals around
effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction. 

- Translate operations staff needs into requirements by interviewing partners and producing
written functional specifications including use cases and user interface design. Define
prototype models to demonstrate business processes. 

- Create/maintain documentation of user interface designs, business requirement and operations
procedures. 

- Solve design issues based on user knowledge and data. 

- Collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team, including business analysts, user
researchers, engineering, and QA. 

- Educate other team members about user-centered design principles. 

Qualifications: 

- 5+ years of user interface design experience with web and desktop applications. 

- Extensive knowledge and experience with using user-centered design process. 

- Proven enthusiasm, curiosity and ability to empathize with end-users and their needs 

- Experience driving and managing the design process for a new product and an ability to
inspire others. 

- Working knowledge of design and prototyping tools and technologies (e.g. PhotoShop,
DreamWeaver, Visio, CSS, HTML) 

Candidate should have knowledge in several of the following areas: SDLC, UML, RUP, data and
process modeling and rapid prototyping. 

- Experience and interest in documenting processes, systems and/or product requirements with
attention to detail. 

- Experience with business process redesign and ability to identify process improvement
opportunities is desired. required. 

- Proficiency with MS Visio and MS Office applications and hands-on experience with developing
prototype models and mock-ups is required. 

- Must possess strong analysis, organizational, oral and written communication skills. 

- Exhibit good problem solving skills and client rapport 

- History of delivering measurable positive customer impact 

- Experience developing information architectures for applications and web sites 

- Strong communication skills 

- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineering,
management, user researchers, and business analysts 

- Experience with visual design desirable.
