Must have educational sales experience from the K-University level.



Promotes and directs the sale of educational products to educational institutions nationwide
by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Develops and maintains relationships with elementary, middle and high school teachers, school
district mathematics supervisors, and college mathematics professors through on-site campus
visits throughout designated region; pursues new accounts and avenues of distribution.


Monitors, pursues, and develops sales opportunities within the educational market.


Develops and constructs reports on sales and/or marketing plans, market information,
competitor information, etc.; tracks math and science requirements for educational products.


Coordinates the activities of Field Sales Representatives and develops and maintains
relationships with retail buyers through on-site visits throughout the nation; pursues new
accounts and avenues of distribution; works with buyers to affect changes in current sales and
marketing strategies.


Provides specialized product knowledge and conducts field demonstrations, training and
presentations to field sales representatives, key accounts, etc.


Enhances overall sales and marketing efforts by reporting on market trends, market feedback,
and competitors' efforts; assists in making recommendations for new product development.


Achieves the annual/quarterly sales volume quota assigned to the territory.   Occasionally
other quotas may be assigned that must also be achieved (i.e. profit, major accounts, specific
models, etc.).


Responsible for staying within the assigned travel, entertainment, and telephone budget for
their territory.  Corporate and divisional policies must be followed regarding lodging/hotel
accommodations, airfare, meals, entertainment, etc.


Frequently communicates with headquarters to keep abreast of divisional goals and objectives.


Develops and constructs reports on marketing plans, market information, and competitive
analysis; tracks sell through and return of product.


Supports marketing efforts by attending and assisting in various trade shows.



Supports marketing efforts by attending and assisting in various trade and dealer shows.


Completes all required paperwork (sales reports, expense reports, itineraries, etc.) 
accurately and on a timely basis.


All other duties as may be assigned by other members of management.


QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and ten or more years related
experience; or advanced degree and eight or more years related experience; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.



Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial
reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from
customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write
reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present
information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the
general public.



Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. 
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical



Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and deal with a
variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability
to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram
form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
