Job Description:
FPI is the premier provider of technology and business services to leading Associations in the
Farm Credit System. These Associations play a key role in providing credit and consulting
services to agri-businesses across the country.

We are currently reinventing our software suite with – (1) a custom component that provides
integrated marketing and customer relationship management, loan origination and servicing, and
legal document management solutions tailored specifically to the needs of agricultural lending,
and (2) a business intelligence solution that provides access to critical information for
better decision making.

We need an experienced DBA to support our production and development activities. Ensuring a
rock solid production environment and supporting the construction of our start-of-the-market
custom software suite is essential. We manage a 110 location distributed architecture with
multiple databases, along with an additional 140 centrally located servers/databases, all
running SQL2000 under Windows2000. Our software environment is n-tiered and developed in a
Microsoft environment (.NET/C#, SQL2000, WIN2000). We also support critical back-office
systems which operate on Sybase, Oracle and VSAM databases. Bring us your 2+ years of broad
DBA experience along with a demonstrated ability and desire to learn…about our business and
about our critical needs…and we will provide a top-notch environment to make you successful.

Summary of Position:
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining and reporting on the health and performance of
our databases across the enterprise. You are part of a 6 person team that is charged with
ensuring the success of our production environment, and the effective support of our
development activities. Experience across the SQL Server 2000
platform is necessary (some Sybase experience would be a plus).

The incumbent will also be responsible for enhancing and maintaining schema structures,
performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, preservation of data integrity,
statistical analysis, procedures for data movement across databases, disaster recovery
procedures, and any/all other database related support functions as needed.

Our systems are developed and deployed on a Windows 2000/NT and a UNIX platform. New
applications are developed using the Microsoft .NET Framework and C#, SQL 2000 stored
procedures and SQR reporting script. We primarily maintain SQL 2000 databases; however we do
have a centralized SYBASE 11 data store, for which support will be needed.

You will provide daytime operations support (in support of problems arising during the
previous night of processing, or for special processing runs), and occasional night-time
production system support. This on-call responsibility is shared across the DBA group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Principal Accountabilities include:
1. Maximize database availability and performance across the production, development and
lab/testing environments through the development and implementation of database disaster
recovery and preventative maintenance plans.

2. Maximize the value of our databases by enhancing the schemas to meet development needs
through the creation of ad hoc scripts and database patches. Support our Change Control
process such that our production, development and testing environments remain sound and

3. Maintain an in-depth understanding of the data available within these databases and support
the effort to access this data through the development and execution of scheduled and ad-hoc
extract mechanisms.

4. Continuously monitor the load placed on our production platforms by our information systems
insuring that we meet the demand for data while taking advantage of changes across our hardware
and system software platforms.

5. Act as a team player, proactive planner and problem solver by providing cross-functional
support to all areas of FPI operations through contributions to both temporary and permanent
project teams.

Essential Qualifications Requirements:
• 2+ years production DBA experience.
• Rock solid production support and application support capabilities.
• Microsoft SQL Server 2000 development and administration competency.
• Team-oriented with a willingness to learn.
