IDC's Clients and Mobility group is seeking a Senior Research Analyst to cover worldwide
technology and market trends in the mobile and wireless marketplace. We expect the increased
convergence of various technologies to impact and evolve mobile device product designs and
bring new mobile data capabilities to both consumer and business market segments. The
transition towards mobility solutions is occurring worldwide at a rapid pace and advances in
component capabilities is driving increased performance levels to handle tomorrow's digital
content. This position will be responsible for delivering IDC's vision for this dynamic
The senior analyst will be responsible for gathering and analyzing qualitative and
quantitative information to create research studies that provide strategic insights and advice
to our clients. Responsibilities include market sizing, forecasting, as well as in-depth
company analysis, and tracking technology trends in collaboration with our semiconductor
analysts. Other responsibilities include working with IDC analysts around the world to shape
our research in mobility, maintaining publication deadlines, presenting research and insight
at industry events and in front of clients, and assisting on custom consulting opportunities.
The senior analyst will be responsible for responding to client inquiries as well as
developing relationships with top executives and marketing managers within mobile device and
mobile software providers, mobile operators, and component suppliers, as well as with
investment banking and portfolio analysts, Fortune 1000 companies, and the media.
The ideal candidate will have strong writing and analytical skills, proficiency in the use of
Microsoft Excel, and broad knowledge of the mobile and wireless markets, specific to
technology trends. A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is an added bonus. In
addition to a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills, candidates with experience in
the mobile and wireless market or analyzing various technology markets is preferred. The
position requires the candidate to work out of IDC's Framingham, Massachusetts office. Some
travel is expected.
