Primary job function:
You will have leadership responsibility of the systems engineering processes applied to the
design, development, integration and test of an Electro-mechanical System on a large military
contract (electro-mechanical HW autonomously driven by embedded SW)
You will contribute to the systems engineering of highly optimized and highly integrated
electro-mechanical assemblies. You will be responsible for requirements management and
specification development in the program and for taking the program through a successful
System Requirements Review and System Functional Review. You will be innovative in applying
systems engineering techniques to a small company with a dynamic environment developing
cutting edge technology.
Use of industry best practices for capturing system requirements flowed down from a greater
system, and organizing and allocating the user, operational, interface and performance system
requirements to functional systems (typically mechanical, electrical, software), and
determining constraints. Should include the use of SW tools such as DOORS, or even a company's
own crafted tool for capturing and allocating requirements.
Knowledge of, and experience writing and managing to a SEMP (System Engineering Management
Plan - the processes we'll apply to the design project), and writing at least one of the
functional specifications (SW, Mech, Elect).
Experience going through the typical design reviews of a military project -- System
Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design
Review, Test Readiness Review, and Production Readiness Review.
Interfacing with the Prime Contractor and/or Gov't Customer to comprehend the system
requirements; participating in working groups and/or technical interface meetings (TIMs).
Experience scrutinizing the greater system's Prime Item Description (PID) document for
General knowledge of Logistics activities associated with the design and development of a
military electro-mechanical system.
Experience on a program that used modeling and simulation to aid in the design, integration
and test of the product.
At least a BS degree in engineering and 8 or more years of relevant experience engineering
systems in military or aerospace fields.
Demonstrated competency in planning and coordinating systems engineering according to industry
best practices, (INCOSE and CMMI are pluses)
Technical leadership in developing complex systems with a large number of constraints that
must be managed
Proficiency with UML
Knowledge of DOORS or a similar requirements management tool
Excellent speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills
