Fully support the engineering and implementation of customer WAN/LAN enterprise network
projects. Has technical ownership of all facets of the project. Plans, develops, and directs
all engineering and implementation activity. Deals with internal and external contacts
exchanging detailed information involving the planning and coordinating of project tasks and
BSEE or BSCS, 10 -11 years specifically in highly technical design/implmentation activity.
Must have 5-7 years working hands-on with routers and switches, and an extensive understanding
of OSI model, Applications (TCP/IP, Decnet, Novell IPX, client/server, SNA), Routing protocols
(RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), LAN Technology (FDDI, Ethernet, Token Ring), WAN Technology (Frame
Relay, ATM, ISDN, Private Lines - T1/E1, FT1/E1, E3/DS3), VLAN switching, Firewalls, DNS, VPN,
Internet, Voice (VoIP/FR/ATM), IP multicast, NAT, etc. UNIX experience is desirable. Must have
solid MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and be able to put technical concepts to
drawings. Relevant experience, such as LAN/WAN/Voice engineering, network management, network
design, network engineering, network architecture, or Cisco Certification a plus. Key
attributes include the ability to research technical issues and develop solutions, strong
attention to detail, excellent written and verbal skills, and good organizational skills. Must
be achievement orientated and possess problem solving skills including conceptual and
analytical thinking. Advanced engineering expertise to determine the theoretical principles
involved and the methodology to be followed to accomplish complex engineering assignments.
Review forecasts and plans, develop processes between engineering and other support
The position requires an comprehensive knowledge in the areas of IT, telecommunications, data
networking design principles, and related communications systems (hardware and software) that
comprise these networks. Accordingly, the Engineer position requires a concentration in
Telecommunications and knowledge of data, voice and video network design and related
principles. A Master's of Science degree in a related engineering field is preferred.
