Job Description:
Working in our ASTRON product line the candidate will design reactive gas generators. This
includes enclosures, cooling and packaging of there associated high power electronics. Heat
transfer and fluid flow are especially important to successful designs. Products are designed
to be reliable, cost effective and manufacturable. Design schedules are typically very
aggressive. The successful candidate will be a creative design Engineer while at the same time
being a stickler for details. 

Job Responsibility

h Design new products from concept through release into full production.
h Support existing released products: root cause failure analysis, redesigning for cost
reduction, customizing for new customers.
h Performing Engineering analysis using FEA(COSMOSWorks) for stress and heat transfer
and,CFD(COSMOSFloWorks) for heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
h Complete documentation of designs conforming to MKS documentation standards including:
detail and assembly drawings, BOMs, design review presentations, lab reports, analysis
reports, marketing drawings, manufacturing assembly drawings, organizing & archiving
SolidWorks assemblies.
h Getting budgetary cost estimates for new designs.
h Creating BOMs and managing materials for fabricating prototypes.
h Contracting with outside consultants for specialized design analysis.
h Validating new designs in the lab.
h Working with Manufacturing and Materials to assure designs are manufacturable and

Knowledge and Skills

h Demonstrated ability to design manufacturable, reliable, and cost effective products for
the Semiconductor industry or other high tech industries. 
h Strong analytical and computational skills in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and tolerance
studies for mechanical and thermal consideration.
h Experience designing for some or all of the following: machining, sheet metal, welding,
brazing, casting, painting, plating, pneumatics, custom power electronics, cabling, high-
purity and special gases, vacuum systems, manufacturing fixtures.
h Experience designing with some or all of the following materials: stainless steel,
aluminum, copper, brass, tungsten, ceramics, quartz, sapphire, machined thermoformed and
injection molded plastics.
h Must have 3D CAD experience V Expert user of SolidWorks preferred


h BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and 5 years related experience
