We are seeking a Northeast region CSL to join the Cubist Medical Affairs team. This is a field
based position. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a Medical
Science Liaison with at least 3 years of infectious disease specialization. One of the
following advanced degrees is required: PharmD, MD, or PhD. The successful candidate will have
a demonstrated capability for scientific, creative and strategic thinking, championing ideas
for positions, and an ability to present and maintain fair-balance during scientific
discussions. 

The candidate will have demonstrated comprehensive skills in establishing and maintaining
collegial peer-to-peer relationships with a wide range of external thought leaders including
physicians, pharmacists, and allied healthcare professionals. The CSL will be a scientific
resource capable of conducting high level scientific and strategic interactions with Cubist
employees as well as external thought leaders. In addition, the position requires the ability
to assess and respond to clinical information, scientific/medical concepts and intellectual
property, and to present a fair balanced highly clinical, scientific and professional profile
of infectious disease therapies and products, and any other therapies and products of interest
to Cubist. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to expertly communicate these skills
both in writing and via formal presentation. The ideal candidate will also possess the ability
to resolve emerging issues using existing teams and/or an established network of expert
consultants.

Responsibilities

The CSL has direct responsibility for developing collegial peer-to-peer relationships with
therapeutic areas of interest to Cubist with a wide range of external thought leaders such as
physicians, pharmacists, and allied healthcare professionals. CSLs work on cross-functional
teams supporting the research and development process and may identify optimal development
opportunities for investigational products as well as approved products. The CSL works closely
with field sales and internal staff to provide technical and scientific training on relevant
products, programs and issues, as well as with technical staff to ensure compliance of
protocols and other programs and materials with pertinent local, state, and federal
regulations. The CSL will identify potential opportunities with leading researchers in the
field as consultants and for future research projects.

Additional specific responsibilities include:
Establishing and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships with a wide range of external thought
leaders including physicians, pharmacists, and allied healthcare professionals

Providing fair-balanced scientific and technical drug and disease state information to
physicians, other HCPs, and Cubist personnel.

Performing critical analysis and synthesis of literature

Effectively managing all aspects of regional/territorial CSL plan.

Representing the Medical Affairs Department and presenting disease state/product/therapeutic
information to regional and national Cubist Advisory Boards

Evaluating and administering external requests for research, training, and continuing medical
education.

Providing information on Cubistís clinical trial strategy and executional plans to
investigators and clinical coordinators

Providing input on launch planning, implementation, execution and reimbursement strategy and
future Phase 3B/4 trials

Staffing the Cubist Scientific Booth at designated regional and national medical conferences
Formal Education and Experience Requirements
Advanced degree required: PharmD, MD or PhD 

Minimum 5 years of industry experience with 3 years experience as an MSL, preferably in
infectious disease

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Basic skills and experience with literature review
Location and Travel

CSL positions are field based and require 50% or more travel.
