The company currently operates over 650 Ross Dress for Less stores in 26 states, and 10 dd’s
Discounts stores in California.

Ross Stores offers first quality, in-season, name-brand apparel, accessories, and footwear for
the entire family at everyday savings of 20% to 60% off department and specialty store prices.
Similar savings can be found on a wide variety of merchandise for the home. Stores average
30,000 gross square feet and are located primarily in suburban strip malls as well as select
locations in major urban areas. 

Ross Stores has also announced the development of dd’s Discounts, a new off-price concept. This
new line of stores will target the needs of lower-income households, the fastest growing
demographic market in the country. The store prototype is planned to be about 25,000 gross
square feet located in established strip shopping centers in densely populated urban and
suburban neighborhoods. 


Location

The Director of Network Strategy will be located in the Corporate Office of Ross Stores, in
Pleasanton, California.


Position

The Director of Network Strategy will be responsible for planning and implementing initiatives
to support the growth strategy of Ross’ distribution network. He/she will plan and drive the
major projects to scale and optimize the existing supply chain including the opening of new
distribution facilities for the company. The Director of Network Strategy will work across the
organization with other functional areas to ensure the appropriate involvement and decision
making occurs for each project. He/she will also manage relationships with external
consultants, contractors and vendors.


Reporting Relationship

The Director of Network Strategy will report to the Vice President of Network Strategy. 


Job Responsibilities 

• Plan and manage various multi million dollar supply chain projects, including opening new
distribution centers, retrofitting and scaling existing facilities, and identifying and
implementing new capabilities to optimize the overall supply chain. 
• Specific job activities include:
o Managing budget planning and forecasting for each project.
o Creating and tracking project schedules and milestones.
o Working with the Distribution Center Engineering Organization to define material handling
requirements and specifications and overseeing the bid preparation and packaging processes.
o Working with the Distribution Management to ensure policies and procedures, and
testing/execution plans are appropriate for each project.
o Working with the Human Resources to plan staffing resources and training requirements.
o Working with external consultants, where applicable, to help define and review network
strategy requirements and solutions.
o Working with the Information Technology Organization to define technology requirements for
WMS and warehouse control systems, transportation systems and interfaces into core
merchandising and other ancillary systems.
o Working with the Real Estate and Construction Organization to plan and construct future sites
and retrofit existing sites.
o Working with other functional areas including Merchandising, Planning and Allocation,
Finance, and Stores to identify and manage business solution requirements throughout the supply
chain.
• Drive communication across the organization to involve appropriate areas in decision-making
and process execution. 
• Provide Senior Management updates as appropriate.
• Analyze, assess and establish standards and policies around project management of new
distribution facilities and other supply chain projects with the objective of continuous
process improvement. 

Background Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in distribution management, supply chain
consulting or related experience; demonstrated experience in opening major distribution
facilities.

• B.A./B.S. in Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• Demonstrated experience in implementation of WMS and related systems.

• Demonstrated track record as a successful project manager.
