Essential Job Description: 

This Product Designer is responsible for features, operation, architectural definitions,
intuitiveness, interoperability and cross-product coherence. Product Designers apply their
individual expertise and insight to a particular aspect of the product's development, in
coordination with the overall project that the Product Manager drives as the "customer" for
the product development effort. technical requirements are the responsibility of Product
Designers. Working from the above product requirement, the Product Designer considers and
documents the technical requirements for cross-product issues such as consistent operation
from amp to POD to interface to plug-in, and from instrument to instrument. The Product
Designer also considers and documents how patch formats and patch-related communication need
to be defined and consistently implemented. Through technical requirements documentation as
well as team interactions, the Product Designer brings clarity and visibility to the
capabilities, as well as the limitations, of implementations. The Product Designer maintains
awareness of evolving implementations, communicates to the Product Manager when these affect
the ability to achieve articulated Product Requirements, and coordinates team efforts to
adjust product requirements, technical requirements and implementations for the ideal
convergence.

Experience/Qualifications: 

Extensive (minimum five years) experience writing, playing, recording and/or mixing/producing
music in live and/or studio settings. Experience with leading and participating in many
projects. 2-10+ years at an MI company in an engineering, QA, marketing, product management or
similar role. Significant experience from school, past jobs, and musical projects that has led
to an informed perspective on customer requirements and technical realities may be substituted
for experience at an MI company. Strong technical/engineering background, while also possessing
a good sense of style, and a sensitivity for what customers really want with a music product.
Strong knowledge of customer requirements and a knack for the technical aspects of
understanding and operating music gear. BS in Engineering or related field. BA in Music or
Liberal Arts may be substituted if combined with significant experience in technical, creative
and/or coordinator/manager roles.
