Job Description:
Viget Labs is a full-service web consulting and development firm based in Falls Church, VA.
Founded in 1999, our broad client list includes entertainment juggernauts such as Britney
Spears, Shania Twain, and Kenny Chesney, as well as local notables such as SunRocket and
Georgetown University. We offer our clients a comprehensive suite of products and services to
support successful web initiatives. We provide our diverse staff of developers, designers, and
consultants with a fun, rewarding work environment; competitive salaries; and exceptional
benefits.

We are seeking a creative, ambitious, and talented Web Designer to join our team. This person
will provide design services across our many client initiatives.

YOU:

o Have the skills to pay the bills. You create cutting-edge Web designs, are always on top of
the latest design trends and technologies, and quietly consider yourself one of the best on
the planet. You love your work.
o See beauty in creative functionality. You ooze creativity and know that good design isn't
necessarily cool images. You know that a well-developed Flash application, created dynamically
and cleanly, can be a thing of beauty.
o Are a web standards expert and understand what works and doesn't work on the web. You can
communicate your design concepts equally well to other designers, techie developers, and
clients and can walk the fuzzy line between fact and opinion in the design world. You have an
exceptional understanding of good coding practices, application optimization, and
modularization.
o Have a technical edge and a design eye and balance your design skills with real technical
competency. You politely look down on pure designers who create amazing designs, but don't get
code. You love the idea of bridging the gap between our technical and design staff.
o Understand consulting and recognize that, ultimately, our goal is client satisfaction. You
are a people person who knows how to work with clients and who can work within the confines of
existing marketing campaigns or design elements. You see the big picture, and you'd like to
help shape it.
o Work your ass off, daily, because you want the client and your colleagues to be thrilled
with your work. You take pride in what you do. You take direction well and enjoy working on
teams; but, you don't need someone standing over your shoulder giving you tasks, thank you
very much.
o Know how to relax and enjoy yourself and prefer the ultra-intense, yet conversely
kicked-back, atmosphere that you can find only in a growing company full of intelligent,
friendly people who are building something special.
o Want recognition for your hard work from your clients and co-workers and want to truly help
shape and build an exciting company.

YOU WILL:

o Create web interfaces for clients across industries, including the music space.
o Work with a talented team of designers and developers to create leading web solutions,
interfacing with Flash/traditional graphic designers for look and feel and traditional
developers for backend logic/content conversion.
o Work directly with clients to gathe r project requirements, initiate creative review
sessions, and present prototypes and final solutions.
o Continue to learn new technologies, tackle new challenges, and grow professionally.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

o 1-3 years professional design experience.
o Mastery of HTML, CSS (you code table-free whenever possible).
o Proficiency with Adobe PhotoShop and Illustrator.
o Experience with Flash and Actionscripting.
o BFA, MFA, or equivalent work experience.
o Experience with server-side scripting environments (e.g., PHP, Cold Fusion, ASP).
o Willingness and ability to work on a PC (vs. Mac).
o Qualities must include attention to detail, verbal and written communications skills, and a
proven ability to work on many tasks & projects at one time and still hit firm deadlines.

WOULD BE NICE:
o Database experience (e.g., MS SQLServer, MySQL).

You must provide a resume and web-based portfolio and include details regarding your
responsibilities and accomplishments. Please clearly include a link to your portfolio -- those
lacking an impressive web-based portfolio need not apply.

Local candidates preferred. No relocation provided.
