Senior Analyst Information Architecture leads/participates in the strategy development for
applying Information Architecture solutions and best practices to enterprise applications,
such as the enterprise portal, content management, document management, and others.
Responsible for ongoing maintenance of existing enterprise taxonomy and classification
technologies, which includes not only the creative creation and extension of that content and
its policies, but also supporting users of the system to best exploit its capabilities. This
position drives the integration of the taxonomy and classifications with other enterprise
solutions, such as, content management, document management, the portal, and search.
Leads/participates in controlled vocabulary initiatives at the segments and business units,
providing consulting where needed, and communicating the enterprise information architecture
and knowledge management strategies and policies.
Information Management Strategy
Enterprise Taxonomy Management creates, updates, and extends the enterprise taxonomy,
working closely with segment and business unit representatives to meet their needs, while
maintaining an enterprise-wide standard and policy for its implementation.
Classification Management creates standards and policies around the classification of
information and documents against organizational schemes, such as nomenclatures and
Leads/participates in the strategy development for the integration of controlled
vocabularies used for classification throughout enterprise information management
Leads/participates the strategy for enterprise search services
Collaborates closely with other enterprise, segment, and business unit groups engaged
directly in information management/organization projects.
Solution Discovery and Design
Consults with Enterprise, Segment and Business Unit IT teams on business needs, technical
requirements, goals/objectives and recommends new and / or existing business solutions
Performs the business and user needs analysis; documents the requirements and translates
those requirements into the proper system requirement specifications
Ensures Suppliers solutions are designed to meet Disneys requirements, adhere to Disney
application strategies, standards and security policies, and meets acceptable cost parameters
Monitors new technologies and industry developments relating to taxonomy, classification or
search, including networking with industry organization, vendors, and other companies.
Participates in vendor and industry conferences
Evaluates proposals and recommends the selected services or products to the appropriate
Researches; designs; communicates and documents customized application solution
alternatives, including cost
Produces, and leads the production of documentation supporting evaluation and decisions
concerning discovery, as well as documents communicating the proposed design of systems.
Performs the technical lead role on projects of varying size and complexity.
Reviews project documents including business requirements, systems specifications, and test
Assists/participates with the manager and project managers in properly assessing
requirements, scope, and risks
Collaborates with Common Services and other potential suppliers to define project schedules
related to changing, testing and implementing new or enhanced services and to ensure standard
processes (e.g. change management, release management, testing, etc.) are followed
Leads/participates in the alignment of Information Architecture strategies with the
Enterprise, Segment, and BU IT strategies by collaborating with Segment, BU and Enterprise IT
leaders for outsourced and in-sourced services
Researches industry direction related to Information Architecture and related technologies
Leads/participates in the definition of Enterprise IT strategies based on major business
initiatives and/or objectives
Educates Enterprise, Segment, and BU IT groups about Enterprise IT strategies
Architecture & Standards
Leads/participates in the development of Disneys standards relating to controlled
vocabulary through collaboration with Enterprise, Segment, BU, Enterprise IT leaders
Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture and other Common Services leaders in defining the
TWDC enterprise application architecture as it related to controlled vocabularies, search,
Creates or leads the production of White Papers or other documentation used to effectively
communicate architecture and standards pertaining to information architecture/management and
BA/BS degree in Information Technology or Business related field
Advanced to expert knowledge/experience with controlled vocabularies, such as taxonomies,
thesauri, nomenclatures, etc.
Advanced to expert knowledge/experience applying controlled vocabularies to user interfaces
Advanced to expert knowledge/experience administering search engine/spider.
Advanced to expert knowledge/experience with content or document management systems
Broad experience with Internet related technologies and standards
Knowledge of metadata standards, such as Dublin Core
Knowledge of existing controlled vocabulary standards in business, such as, NAICS, and
Web development experience
Indexing/Cataloging for the web Quality Assurance testing in a web development environment
Experience writing technical documentation
