The incumbent will be a member of the Biological Products Process Development & Technology
group, and will support process development activities. The person will participate in the
design and execution of experiments associated with development, improvement, and scaling-up of
recombinant and/or plasma derived proteins. Consistent with this function is a continual
consideration of regulatory/compliance issues related to product quality, manufacturing, and
facilities.
The incumbent will work in a leadership function to plan and carry out scientific and technical
projects in order to evaluate and develop new manufacturing technologies and processes for
recombinant protein products. Activities are centered on developing new manufacturing equipment
and analyzer technologies relation to purification operations.
The candidate should have hands-on working knowledge of unit operations and equipment used in
manufacturing-scale protein purification, including low pressure liquid chromatography,
membrane filtration, fluid transfer and equipment cleaning. The candidate will work in
conjunction with purification development scientists, vendors and outside consultants to
develop new manufacturing technologies and equipment for new and existing products.
M06 Requires:
Engineering degree with relevant experience in a relevant discipline: Chemical Engineering,
Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, etc., plus production and/or engineering
experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. The education requirement may be combined with
work experience as follows:
BS 4 years
MS 2years
The education requirement may be substituted with a combination of both relevant education and
work experience.
