Job Description:
IN THE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The Manager � Biotechnology Development is responsible for research into emerging technologies
with a focus on developing these opportunities for entry into the R&D pipeline. This individual
might supervise a core team of researchers dedicated to evaluating new technology opportunities
and making technological recommendations to the Executive Team on strategic merger, license and
acquisition targets. This individual also has responsibility for overseeing early research
activities for new technologies and organizational special projects developed internally, with
the aim of conceptual evaluation of new product or process technologies for overall fit within
the scope of the Corporation�s Strategic Plan. This individual must have good team building,
mentoring, and leadership by influence skills with the impetus to constantly maintain focus on
project goals and corporate priorities. Furthermore, the Manager � Biotechnology Development
must build cross-functional internal and external relationships in order to creatively capture
and analyze market data, competitive intelligence, scientific advancements, and other inputs
necessary to develop long-term strategies for the technological development of the Company. The
ability to speak to a wide variety of internal and external audiences such as surgeon
customers, regulatory agencies, patent counsel, investors, and scientific collaborators is
vitally important. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Advanced degree in engineering, scientific discipline or equivalent experience. Strong
scientific, compliance, and market knowledge of the orthobiologics industry gained through a
minimum of 10 years experience in a medical device, biotechnology, or medical firm. Supervisory
experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to independently lead and manage multiple projects.
Proven track record in developing new technologies that have resulted in commercial
introductions in a regulated medical and/or biotechnology environment. Proven ability to lead
others and coordinate efforts to ensure efficient and successful outcomes. Mature judgment and
excellent follow through in all areas of responsibility. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks,
assign priorities and ensure efforts are accomplished in a timely and efficient manner. Ability
to work as an integral team member combining the strengths and abilities of a group to
successfully accomplish corporate goals. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of
the organization. Ability to deliver timely, cogent documentation to internal and external
entities regarding research activities. Ability to effectively deliver presentations to a
variety of audiences.
