Directs the activities of assigned staff in the timely investigation, evaluation, reserving,
negotiation, and equitable settlement of claims: ensures compliance with division, company, and
industry standards; ensures continuity of customer service of the best possible value to our
agents; solicits innovative ideas for claims handling methods from unit staff to improve unit
and department performance
Selects, develops, and appraises assigned staff: uses internal and external programs to
increase the level of technical expertise within the unit; conducts reviews and audits on unit
claim files and takes appropriate action; maintains a production work environment through the
use of appropriate management techniques consistent with company philosophy
Takes appropriate action to control indemnity costs: monitors a territorial network of claims;
analyzes claims statistical data
Protects the company�s legal and financial interests by staying abreast of pertinent statutory,
regulatory, and industry activities and ensuring staff awareness and compliance
Develops and monitors the unit�s budget and participates with senior management in short-term
planning
Perform other activities as required
Qualifications
Minimum of 5+ years of property casualty experience to include commercial and personal lines
Strong technical skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Previous supervisory experience in commercial lines preferred |
