RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform hands-on system testing and functional testing of Netopia hardware and firmware.
Contribute to test automation efforts � maintenance of existing test scripts and new test
development. Work closely with Firmware Engineers and Product Managers to provide top-notch
quality hardware and software Netopia products covering a variety of clients, servers, and
networking devices in the SOHO and enterprise broadband network environments. Must be
self-motivated and directed to work with minimal supervision.
Additional duties will include:
Review requirements, RFCs and design documents to write, develop, and implement test cases and
test plans for new features;
Analyze test results and report findings to QA, Engineering, and Product Management;
Planning, scheduling, and estimating testing efforts within the development cycle schedule;
REQUIREMENTS:
Must Haves:
Background in Various Protocols, such as: TCP/IP, XML, DHCP, PPP, PPTP, HTTP, etc.;
Demonstrated experience with Unix/Linux configuration and management;
Demonstrated experience in test automation using a scripting language such as Perl or Shell
scripting;
Demonstrated understanding of subnetting and of routing protocols (RIP, VRRP, etc.);
Ability to independently diagram, implement, and maintain both logical and physical network
layers;
Demonstrated experience in using CVS or other revision control system in group environment to
contribute to maintenance and development of automation test scripts;
Understanding of QA process and the software development life-cycle;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Strong problem solving skills;
BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience;
3+ years of QA experience;
Preferred:
Experience with embedded firmware and/or client-server development and testing
Experience with C and Java development
Experience with configuration of WI-FI products
Experience with DSLAM and Access Concentrator configuration
Experience with test tools such as Smartbits, Chariot, DLS400 line simulator, Packet Analyzers
(Ethereal/EtherPeek);
Background in ATM, xDSL, SNMP, VPN/IPSec (FreeSwan/Checkpoint) VLAN, QoS;
Demonstrated experience with Router/NAT/Firewall device configuration;
Knowledge of Voice/Video-Over-IP protocols
Knowledge of various open-source tools that can enhance the test environment
Demonstrated experience with Cisco CLI; background in Cisco High-Density Equipment
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Windows Networking
