Our Lady of Holy Cross College invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice
President for Academic Affairs. It is essential that the candidate possess a strong commitment
to the mission and philosophy of Catholic higher education as expressed in the statement of the
College on vision, core values, and mission.
Reporting directly to the College President, the Vice President for Academic Affairs serves as
the chief academic officer. She/he will work closely with the College community to support
both faculty and staff. She/he will be a good listener who is a colleague of faculty and
staff, and one who approaches problem solving as a consensus builder.
The successful candidate will be a leader with a passion for improving academic programs and
services. She/he will possess intellectual vitality, program and curriculum development
experience, and a love of general education. We seek a Vice President who will be an advocate
for the centrality of teaching and learning.
The following qualifications are essential:
� An earned academic doctorate with a distinguished record of scholarship and teaching;
� A minimum of ten years progressive experience in higher education;
� An outstanding record of leadership and administrative experience, with a style that
is inclusive and collegial;
� The ability to negotiate agreements, to evaluate risks, and to develop effective
approaches to strategic management;
� A commitment to advancing academic goals that support student retention and success;
� Significant experience in strategic planning, policy development, accountability and
assessment, including assessment of student learning, faculty evaluation, and institutional
effectiveness;
� Senior-level experience in planning and management of human, fiscal, and facility
resources and the ability to transform the College�s planning efforts into annual operating
plans and budgets;
� Strong analytical skills and a combination of creativity and openness to innovation;
� Demonstrated experience with and commitment to shared governance and diversity;
� Demonstrated knowledge of and appreciation for emerging trends in higher education;
� Knowledge of and experience with accreditation of professional, liberal arts, and
sciences programs.
Salary is negotiable.
Founded in 1916 by the Marianites of Holy Cross, Our Lady of Holy Cross College is an
accredited co-ed institution offering undergraduate and graduate professional and academic
degree programs while maintaining a tradition of liberal arts education.
