Under direction, the Lab Animal Technician will provide basic custodial and animal husbandry
care: feed, water and clean cages and animal rooms on a scheduled basis; daily observation and
examination of animals for signs of illness, injury, and or behavioral changes; observe
environmental conditions such as humidity and temperature; receive and process new animals;
operation and maintenance of the cage washer and autoclave; maintain hallway, storage,
procedure and cage wash areas in a clean and organized manner; stock and order supplies and
other related duties as assigned.The ability to lift 50 pounds and work weekends and holidays
on a rotating basis. Must have no known allergies and the ability to perform repetitive motions
with arms, wrists and hands. Need experience in basic husbandry and handling of rodents. The
candidate must have the ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and team-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications: AALAS certification at ALAT or LAT level is preferred.
